Ice Storm here today. We get them every few years...but what is unusual...

Projected to be -6* here on Wednesday.

I have been in Mississippi for almost 25 years and never seen the mercury dip into the negatives!

I know that's normal for you guys up north...but one of the reasons I'm in the south is to get away from that!

It was 19 degrees today as the cold snap went east. So I fired up the Ulysses and did a 73 mile loop. The Uly normally gets 50 mpg but in this low temp it got 35 mpg. I ran out two blocks from the station after the low fuel light came on. I was used to 50 mpg but it ran out at 35 miles. The indicator is different for low fuel than HD's which does a miles count down until empty. The Buell goes to a Trip F and starts counting up.

I'm going to block the scoop to the oil cooler next ride. I think that the engine does not get warm enough to come off of the enrichener (sp) setting.

My other winter rides have not had that problem. Tje Freewheeler has not been seen by the adjustor yet so it stays in the garage. It got 40 mpg which is very high for a trike in this winter riding.

 

Single digits in SC just below Charlotte wednesday. we are getting ice tonight.

I'm in agreement, I keep thinking I didn't move far enough South to get away from these temps. Florida is gonna run out of room is this weather keeps up.
