I live out in the country, and my schedule has me riding at dusk quite often.
I have deer whistles on all my bikes, I have for years.
Have read many reports that say they're no good. Have even read reports that say they attract deer.
I've seen many deer run off when they heard me...but I think that is more likely from the exhaust.
Pretty difficult to know if they work at keeping deer out from in front of me...but I do not believe they attract deer, and will keep using them.

It's sort of like "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

Ditto Kevin Where to locate them?
I must admit I have used whistles for over 20 years and only had one incident with deer and they were being chased by dogs. I have seen deer either freeze or go away from the source of the whistles. In PA where I live I must look out side before letting the dog out between Deer, Bears, Coons or neighbors dogs critters everywhere. I will use them always next Question is where I can you put them to be effective? ride safe fearless

I have lived in my current home since 2003. I see deer running across the roads at least once a week. Have hit four of them, and many more close calls. Several years ago I installed deer whistles on my truck..I will tell you my experience is that I see just as many now as I did years ago. I didn't bother putting them on my bike as I view them as useless...just my experience
