Good Luck
That's a good idea. Might try that!

Edit: also, although I want to make it easier for me to remove the seat. Using a thumb screw with a slot might make it too easy for someone with other than good intentions to remove the seat.

I think you meant using a thumb screw period. The slot doesn't make a difference.

At $30 bucks it better come with a cover for that knurled top end. That would eat right through a seat cover if it got in touch with it.

Just bought a 3" allen head 1/4" x 20 screw and one nut in SS, cost $2.69 with tax. Works great ... long enough to get started, and the allen head after tightening, makes it tougher to undue (read as steal)

Thanks to Screw Ball for the idea ... my Ace didn't have a thumb screw longer than 1 1/2" so, I improvised.

I used Oggies idea except if you don't have any plastic packaging you can use what I did. I cut a quarter size disc out of an empty milk carton. Drill the small hole in the center and push in over the threads and it holds the screw fine. You can cut quite a few extras from an old milk carton. I have handed out a bunch of them to other bikers.

Magnetic screw driver will get r' done --- also -- have not done it but thought about putting O ring on the back side of the mounting plate to hold the screw in place.

LOVE the idea but, I now carry two short screws, yes 2 spares in my pak.. Just purchased a custom LePera seat, and want to keep it
