Lightbulb Inexpensive Tank lift and floorboard extension

I spent less than $10 for all parts needed for these mods. Yea, I know; it seems like the cheap way out, but I am on a very tight SS budget. And it works! I should add that I only raised the rear of the tank 5/8" because any higher interferes with my junk comfort. I'll find out on future rides how my reserve distance is affected.

How did you raise the back of the tank? Or more important in my case, did it raise the front of the seat an equal amount? I'm thinking that doing so, about 1/2" might help in my case. Thanks.

If you go to a hardware store where they have the drawers of chrome bolts, springs, etc etc, they will have spacers. I got the chrome 1/2" long in the correct bolt diameter.
I think they were like $1.10 each.
I wouldn't go over the 1/2" raise.

I used a couple of 3/8 self locking nuts that are about 5/8" thick under the bottom of the tank bracket. 1/2 " or 5/8" is about all I would go with the rear lift. Any higher really puts a cramp on the jewels. And yes, it does raise the front of the seat proportionally.

If you enlarge the floorboard photo to max you'll see that I used a couple of oversized nuts as spacers at both mounting locations and the corresponding longer bolts. This allows the floorboards to be out an inch farther. Be sure to use the blue Loctite. I've ridden about 1,500 miles since this mod with no problems.

Does it bother you that you are pirating a copyrighted product, from one of the forums sponsors? Just saying.

I believe Fat Bottom Girl is also copyrighted. I don't think making your own parts would be infringement or illegal.
