I'm getting true duals put on with cfr pipes does anybody know how this will sound?loud or too damn loud??and what about performance gain or loss

Is there such a thing as TOO loud???


Says the guy that put Megaphones on his Freewheeler and wife's Tri-Glide, and Pythons on most of the previous bikes. We hold the record for setting off 6 car alarms on 2 floors at the local Mall

 

You are going to see some loss of low end torque. Most of the problem comes from the lack of a crossover between the pipes. Might be a bear to tune around also. You might experience some exhaust reversion also. I like the sound of true duals, but with a stock engine they really don't work as intended.
The CFR's are going to be loud, but that is a matter of personal preference.
My wife tells me our V&H monster rounds are too quiet LOL !

 

I had V&H Dresser Duals w/ CFRs to replace the stock headers w/Rineharts on my 09 Ultra Classic and they should sound the same on a trike.
They were louder than the previous configuration but not obnovious and because the CFRs have a very low pitch, they were perfect for me.
Performance wise, I lost a little bit of low end torque but the positives (less heat and much better sound) far outweighed the negatives.
Overall, I was very pleased with them.

 

My wife says the same thing about our V&H monster rounds,Rodger. I love the sound but she really liked the V&H monster ovals that were on the bike before it was triked. They were louder,too.
Our trike has both the V&H monster rounds and power duals. It must have some smaller baffles because it's not as loud as I expected. Trike has enough low end torque to spin the rear tires in first gear so I guess the exhaust didn't hurt power very much.

 

My wife likes loud pipes. She has V&H big radius 2 into 2 on the wide glide. It will set off alarms every where if it is in a enclosed parking lot. We left a parking deck in Birmingham and was parked on the 6th floor, every level I could hear alarms going off. I go out of dodge quick.
You want loud with one of the best sound pipes consider the V&H big radius, they look great to. They are way too loud for me. When your hearing starts going out you won't care for those loud pipes much then.

 

Yeah I just took a V&H big radius off a Dyna for a friend & he hung it on my wall & left ! LOL!
