Default Oil Leak

I've had some down time this Summer due to a bum leg. After my 2012 Triglide sat for a couple of weeks, I noticed a puddle of oil spreading out on the floor under my bike. Now, I've owned a lot of Harleys over the years and while some may have leaked a little occasionally I had never seen anything like this since the early Evo years. I finally felt good enough to crawl under the bike this week and I found that every bolt in the oil pan was loose. Most were only finger tight, and a couple had backed out significantly. Never saw this one before and I thought I'd pass it on. Just one more thing you might want to check before you go on a long trip.

Red face Mine last winter

When I did my post season on my 09 I noticed the same all my bolts were loose as well as the clutch side of the tranny. I don't know if this is a problem or just poor insp. practices but I keep a close eye on them know. If they get loose again I will remove the whole thing clean and reseal. ride safely fearless

Back in September 2011 HD had a bulletin updating the torque spec for the oil pan and the transmission door because of this very problem.

Just wondering if either of you know off the top of your head what the new torque spec might be?

FYI My transmission pan bolts also came loose. With REDLINE fluid it was an easy find.

msocko3, thanks for the bulletin. I was chasing a small leak on my wife's 11 TG and found about 25% of the oil pan screws were loose.
