i'm use to a two wheeler and this just seems to be buzzing at higher speeds because of the gearing. i know these twin cam engines like higher rpm's. just gonna take awhile to get use to.

I have done 75mph, two up, pulling a trailer for extended periods of time. I'll bet that you'll be used to going 75 by the end of the first day.

It'll run all day at whatever speed you are comfortable at (unless you can be comfortable at 95 or 100).

Speeds above 70 mph the mpg starts dropping, but it is not hurting the bike at all.

I regularly ride long stretches at 80-85 (my comfort zone). I pop up to 90-95 now and then to get past something, and the TG is comfortable there, I'm not.

There is no RPM issue to the higher speeds, but you do want to make sure you don't run too hot and cook anything.

I have run 85 - 90 MPH all day long. No heat issues and no problems what so ever. I do have a stage 1 with catless head pipes and performance mufflers. I also switched to mobil 1 oil at 5 K miles. Really helped the bike rev smoother and not run so hot. The motor is very happy now. I did a 3000 mile ride with just dino oil and the motor ran fine on it also. Sorry had a senior moment and reposted basically the same post I had already done... good riding to you!!

I really REALLY do not like the freeway no matter if I'm on 2, 3, 4 or more wheels. Consequently I don't go fast very often. If I have to ride on the freeway, I keep to the posted limits.... (Most of the time)

I like a leisurely ride so I can look around and see what's out there.

I have NEVER seen over 31 MPG with the 2011. I've seen it as low as 24. I keep a spreadsheet on all my vehicles, and the TG has averaged 28.2 MPG since I got it in Nov 2011.

I'll bet I could throw the b@)*#$d off a cliff with the key turned off and it would STILL get 28 mpg!

I see all these posts of 35 to 40+ MPG for the TG. Since new all I have ever got was 27 MPG running 50 or 80. Starting to think something is amiss with injectors, etc.

Based on Kevin's (DK Custom Products) recommendation, I bought a Power Vision system. After figuring it out and observing my riding habits, I'm pretty sure I know where my mileage is going! I try and try to play nice with it, but I'm an old school rider who's not used to having a bunch of 'stuff' to look at. I tend to watch the road and the goings on around me. The PV has helped me stretch a near-empty tank a few times, but I just can't seem to play nice with the throttle for a whole tank of gas. :/

Getting good MPG out of a Stage I is a combination of:

Riding style and a proper Stage I. A good tune, exhaust & air cleaner that do not rob power or MPG.

All Stage I's are Not created equal. You can see an overview on Stage I's HERE.

I ride fairly aggressively, which eats more gas than needed for traveling any particular stretch of road. I still run in the 36-38 mpg range most of the time.

Even on long trips, where I am fully loaded, and have thousands of miles running 80-90 into a headwind, I still average in the 33 mpg area.

ZD, send me an email at Support@DKCustomProducts.com asking me to send you a Power Vision tune for your 2011 TG. I will get it to you and I think you will be pleased by a nice bump in power AND MPG.

Of course, to get the best, you will also need to address your exhaust and A/C, if they have issues.

I am coming up on 5k miles on my 15 tri . Since the 1k tune up I have gotten 34mpg pretty consistently. I do a combo of city and highway. I usually run it 70-80 on the highway
