i agree, if you are going to be moving that axle enough to remove the belt, you need it up in the air and the weight off the axle. just makes life easy !

i set my belt adjustment right at 7/16 's and after riding a couple hundred miles it seems to have tightened up some , to 3/8. i'm wonder if the warmer air temps. play a roll in this ? it was alot cooler when i adjusted the belt and now it's hot out. sure don't want to go though the belt adjustment thing again so soon. just wondering if anyone else has seen this ? i know i've been though this before with softails and a streetglide, adjust it correctly and then in the summer it's tightens up some. i'm leaving it alone for now.

I'm surprised you had to adjust the belt to begin with. The only time the belt has been adjusted on my dads 09 is when I did the transmission sprocket swap, other than that, it's been within spec for the entire 52,000+ miles. The 2010 Triglide I had never needed an adjustment except for when I swapped the sprocket. My 2006 Ultra Classic has not had to be messed with either in a little over 44,000 miles. They don't stretch much and if they do, it will be within 1,000 or so miles.

mine was out of spec. by the time it had 2000 miles on it. was right on the money when new. seen it happen on many a bike for the softies to the touring bikes. i'm thinking the increase in outside air temps made the differance. i know on my softail i set it when puttin git back together in the winter (cold garage) and then had to reset it in the warmer months. i'm guessing the pulleys contract and expand with the temps. that's my theory anyway. it's at 3/8 now and it's going to down to 60 something tonight and i will check again in the morning when air temps. are cooler. thanks !
