Well I hope this doesn't mushroom and create huge problems for tuners and people that sell and install them. I just saw this today, but maybe some of you have heard about it. Harley Davidson to pay 12 million fine for emission violations from tuners. Be sure to read all of it, especially the part about denying warranty claims etc.

Was toying with idea of Stage 1 and a tuner. Oh well, better like the way it runs now. Not surprised. Will be interested in what my service department says at the dealership. Should not effect bikes with mods done in the past lets hope. My`02 RK runs the way it should!

 

This will sure put the screws to dealers pimping the bikes with high flow exhaust, intake, etc prior to it being sold like many do now. I'm sure this will be a major topic of discussion at the dealer show ................

 

This may bring about a big push for Harley Davidson to go water cooled. I don't see how they can get these things running any leaner. If independents and dealers and retailers come under fire from the big government guys, tuners will probably become hard to find in a few years. I would not be surprised if some of the water cooled brands didn't have something to do with providing info to the government about the use of tuners etc. Just my $.02 !

When you think about it, it shouldn't be a surprise. As prolific as modifying these bikes and trikes has become, sooner or later it'll get someone's attention. IMO, they are just beginning. I think as time goes by, the entire aftermarket will be impacted in one way or another.

 

You had to know after the Volkswagon bombshell dropped that the EPA would start going after other big manufacturers. Harley was an easy target

 

I have no problem blaming the government for s$&@ like this but let's get the history straight. The requirements that created this was actually the 1990 Clean Air Act Ammendments signed into law by George HW Bush.

 

Well, that is one political barb from each side. Us end the political sides right there if possible.
