Default What's that damn squeak?

I looked through the squeak threads and can't find mine. On my '15 TG I have a squeaking noise. Sounds like it is coming from the front. I only notice is when I am idling stop and when the trike is heated up (that I have noticed so far). It sounds like 2 pieces of Styrofoam rubbing together if you have ever heard that. Anybody have any experience with this issue?

Thanks!

the only 2 squeaks I have, has been the rubber muffler hanger. and if you put a detachable tour pack kit on . it will squeak at the actachment point when they wear a little.

I had a squeak on my 2015 RGS, sounded like it was coming from the front. Turns out it was the air cleaner. It needed to be tightened.

I've had 2 'squeaks' that that drove me nuts. In the front the top motor mount came loose.... The other was already mentioned, the rubber isolator on the muffler bracket worked loose causing the muffler to rattle. I'm sure they made noise when riding, just couldn't hear it.

Good luck

Sounds like the same squeak I had. Top motor mount bolt backed out, lucky it was stopped by the frame.

I had one hell of a squeak too, but it was coming from the back end. The dealership found the cause and fixed it by removing the upper right body/frame bolt (inside the trunk), applying new Loctite and re-torqueing. They knew right where to look because I was the second guy to come in with the complaint.

The heim joint for the top motor mount has a tendency to wear out and start squeaking. It can be confirmed by spraying it with some silicon and see if the squeak stops. I've replaced it twice on my dad's 09 due to wear.

It probably wouldn't hurt any to go around and snug up the fasteners on the fairing, windshield and anything else you can find up front.

Squeaks are funny, two things are rubbing against each other; they are held together enough to keep them in contact, but not enough to keep them from moving. I suppose the only good news is that soon after they stop squeaking, the fastener is loose enough that now they rattle, but no more squeak!!!

Edit: The other answer is that your radio just isn't up loud enough, of course...
