Default 2009 vs. Newer?

We've got an 09 TG that we enjoy. I've been putting off (for no reason) performance upgrades. Well it's time to boost performance and suspension as we ride 2, 95% of the time. We're at 16k mileage wise, question is what to do and if it's a better decision to move to a 2017? We don't seem to have the big heat issues some folks complain about, our goal is enough performance to run the mountains with our friends and not build a new engine to do it. Stage 1? Suspension upgrade to support our 475 payload which includes gear? Some basic ideas, I know it's an impossible question to cover fully.

Change to a 30 tooth pulley on transmission get a programmer lift tank cooler yet. 21-22 lbs air in rear tires 38-45 on rear shocks. Lift kit Then if you really serious tts 100 cams. All this is unless you want a new one, then enjoy get one. ride safely fred

You can get it all at the same place, DK Custom Products. The add is on the Banner for this site. Super guys to deal with, not only do they provide great products, they ride and use their products. I have been very happy with their products and service. Jim

I am a fan of the Fullsac CX or DX header for a Trike, and I believe they just came out with their own mufflers, not just baffles. Might be worth taking a look as these systems seem to run well. I actually run the CX with a set of CVO mufflers with Fullsac baffles that I picked up used. On a trike, you can't see the mufflers anyway.

09 shouldn't have a cat in the header so i would leave it alone. biggest bang for the buck gearing it lower, open the air intake, add a tuner. as for ride any aftermarket coil over shock will be a big improvement over the stock air shocks.

We have a 16 but the same should apply to yours.
I am going to do the following.
1. FullSac header
2. Free flowing air breather ( probably Alan Ness Big Sucker)
3. TTS 100 Cams
4. TTS Tuner
5. I have Python mufflers already, may run the stock ones if the python are to loud.

I think this would be a good setup. And just my preference. Power Vision would fine also, Fuel Moto header would also be fine. There are a number of good companies that make performance products. DK customer are a great company.

I have an 09 as well with about 35,000 miles and no intention of changing it. Biggest performance improvement I made was stage one and have it dyno tuned. Cruise at little over 70 miles per hour in 6th gear and have no trouble picking up speed to pass Orr going up the mountains.

Traded wife's '09 with 58,000 miles (give or take) for a '14. Just the radio upgrades were worth it. It will probably go away for an '18 next year if we keep putting the mileage on like we are now. Have left all 4 trikes we've owned pretty much stock. Mufflers for noise is about all we've done. Ridden all over Utah, BEAUTIFUL country
