Interesting you would say that. I love my 2016 TG and look forward to many happy rides, but I have come to the conclusion that HD looks at a model like the Ultra and decides "What can we take off that the owner will most likely come back and buy from us and maybe even have us install?"
Since I bought my 2016 TG I have bought Tour-Pack Luggage Rack, Tour Pack Power, driver's backrest, CB & install, bumper. I have bought the heated grips, but I am waiting to get them installed as the HD service guy said it was at least a couple of hours labor to put them on. No reflection on the dealer or HD, I have spent a lot of money with them and they treat me pretty decent, just an observation.

All ultras up to 2013 came with the CB installed, but them HD sent out a survey and one of the questions was use of CB, most replied they never used it, so HD dropped it. I don't know who they asked, sure wasn't me, I use mine quite a lot on rides with my buds that also use it. We like BSing on the road, everything from cars we see, restaurants, pretty girls etc....I always put it on my bikes if I can.
But I agree, CB, rear bumper at the least. I have installed:
CB radio, XM Modual, bumper, HWY pegs, backrest, tour pack chrome trim ( upper and lower), windshield trim, couple of windshields, shorty antennas, luggage rack, tail light covers, fender bras, 2+2 sweeper bars, Avon grips, fender skirt, water pump cover, headlight and passing lamp visors, rear lift kit, have the FullSac header and a set of mufflers sitting in garage to go on. This list is just an example of the money we spend on our toys and HD knows this. Most I installed myself, but quite a few pay the dealer to put these on, more money for them. Money, money, money and they know it....
At least they did include all the wiring for the CB Modual and antenna....
I'm still pissed they didn't include wiring to allow us to use the hand held CB mic....

This has been discussed in many other threads.
IMHO, Harley must have done their focus group studies with people that either always ride alone, or never ride further than the closest Starbucks.
I do use mine, and know others that do as well. It is convenient when group riding to communicate omongst riders. And no...Bluetooth is not a substitute due to limited range.
When riding in a funeral procession, it is very useful for the head and tail gunner to communicate, particularly to pick and hold a lane. Just this week, we did a long accompaniemrnt of a recently fallen active duty marine. A CHP cruiser pulled along side, and we were able to communicate our destination to him via CB. This resulted in him escorting us for about 20 miles, to our next stop.
Also, on long trips it's useful to be able to get road condition information from truckers.
So, I think it was crappy for HD to drop the CB...and no it's not in the '17s either.
