Don't know how I just now am seeing this thread.

At the DK shop we have some hose cutters that are made for braided line...cut the lines like butter.

At my personal shop I use a large pair of bolt cutters. Works pretty good.

With either of the two above, we always use painters tape.

For installing with the hose finishers, we leave the painters tape on the end of the hose. The tape will be covered/hidden by the finishers, and it will keep the braid from catching/unraveling as the hose finisher is slid onto the end of the hose.

Hope this helps.

Kevin, I and probably other would like to know =exactly= what you use to cut the hose. I have spent hours searching and have yet to spend money on something that is supposed to work. I get by with a cut off tool, but would like the correct tool.

and does your tool work with stainless braid?

thanks,Larry

Hey Larry,

At my personal shop, I use a pair of 3 foot long bolt cutters...they are a bit cumbersome, but work fine. I did not picture it...it's old, rusty and I picked it up at a hardware store well over 25 years ago with no identifying marks on it.

At the DK Shop, they were using some cutters that were made for braided hose...they worked great...BUT, they wore out far too quickly.

For the last year they have been using these for the large Stainless Steel Braided and for the Fiber Braided hose. (I did not know that they had made the switch in tools until today)

The above tool is for trimming tree branches. It works well, and it has not worn out like the "specialized tool (which is now in the trash).

For the smaller Stainless Steel Braided hose, and all the rubber hose, this is the tool we have used for years. We do sharpen it occasionally.

All that said, I would not hesitate to use a cut-off tool either.

But it is not practical when Amber or Lisa are cutting dozens of pieces of hose when in the packaging process. Using the cutters is faster, cleaner and probably safer.

Just get a cut off wheel and mandrel for a drill at home depot. 5-10 bucks for both

Installed my filter relocation kit this past weekend. Well made kit and doesn't look bad either.

I ordered just the kit with regular line since I always build my own AN lines. I changed out all the fittings to -6 AN fittings and made black nomex braided hoses. Made for a nice install.

Tree branch cutters usually only have one jaw sharpened. Having worked in the electrical trade for forty some odd years the above cutters look just like cable cutters we always used. I do still have a pair.
