Default 2016 Seat Coming Apart

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or even heard of it. My 2016 TG is only 5 months old with almost 4,000 miles. Passenger top part of seat is coming apart, with about 1.5 inches of stitching gone.

Going to take it to dealer under warranty today, just thought this was really a strange failure on a new bike.

Should be covered.

Now I'm not trying to be funny or cracking wise; what kind of weight does the seat normally support? I'd hate to think HD has gotten down to cheaping out the vinyl seats.

Valid question. My honey of 33 years only comes in about a buck fifty. I never strap anything on the seat to haul, it is garaged unless traveling, and then it is either covered at night or if sitting in the sun for extended period a white towel is over it.

Service guy said they have only seen a few on newer bikes. He thinks they are using maybe cheaper material or something.

Anyway, they don't carry stock seats but would order one. He offered to exchange my warrantied seat for a different kind. Told him a Tall Boy seat was on my future list so they figured it up and slapped one on for $69.00 difference.

Needless to say I was thrilled! Now I wish something would go wrong with my stock mufflers!

Nice when it works out like that!

Bang! Good deal

Now tell him your pistons are wore out and you need a big bore kit

I had my 2000 Ultra for 13 years and it had 77,000 miles on it when I sold it and the seat was in nearly perfect condition.

My '13 CVO was less than three years old, with less than 25,000 miles on it and NO ONE had ever sat on my rear seat when the stitching started pulling loose!

Even though I have the ESP and could have had it repaired for the $50 deductible I chose to take it to an independent shop and paid for the repair out of pocket to make sure that it was repaired correctly. So far, so good.

That could be one way to go I guess, but since the Tall Boy seat was on my future modification list anyway I figured I just got a $350.00 one for free, plus I don't have to store a OEM seat for the next few years.

I probably should have put one of these seats on my last Ultra. It sure moved me back and lets me feel more stretched.
