Ready for next years long rides.
Finished my set up for some planned haul roads riding next year.
Mounted a 4.5 gallon auxiliary tank to the luggage rack. 12 volt pump plugs into the tender lead. Hose with a 1/4 turn valve and copper filler tube reaches to the gas cap. Use as needed. Also could help get a stranded rider without gas to get going again.
It gives me enough range that I should not get stranded for lack of gas.

I could flip it and it would still be there. Trunk lid is very stout and heavy hinges.
10.5 gallons at 35 mpg is 350+ miles not 700. I do haul roads in Canada not many stations.
My test run was recently on US 281 from just south of the Canadian Border to Brownsville Tx. It is known as the American Legion Memorial Highway. Being a former Post Commander I had to ride it. Many barren rural areas in N.D. S.D. Nebraska, Kansas Oklahoma with few services. I only had it half full and a few times I was glad it was there. Worked great. On the way home I pumped the supply into the main tank. The picture is from my wife's phone as I was embarking on that trip. Supplies were in the tour bag so that I didn't need the trunk.
Last year I did 42K+ miles. This year I'm just under 38K but there is two and a half months to ride yet.
ISP: That is why I leave Illinois for every trip. But have you tried Iowa local roads? I have and they are worse.

It would be kind of cool if the MoCo had an optional piggyback fuel tank platform designed for solo riders. It could fit over the passenger section. There were so many places I wanted to see off the beaten path on my rides out west this past summer that I could not do for fear of fuel issues. This will necessitate my taking the Z06 convertible instead. Sometimes life sucks ..........
