Why did the free wheeler price go up so much in 2017

Why? Because we the buying public encourage it! As long as we will throw money down to have the latest and greatest, spend 30.00 for a T-Shirt, 400.00 for a jacket, 80.00+ for a sweatshirt, HD will charge the most that they can. And why wouldn't they. HD's loyalty is to the shear holders, not the buying public....
We could stop it, but that would require all of us to stop buying T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and such. Not gonna happen though and I'm as guilty as anyone....on trips I buy a shirt that says " I was there" can't help myself......look at the porker chip thing, some dealers charge 1.00 or 1.25. Others 3.00. And people buy them no matter the price...

[QUOTE=ord sgt;15723056]The 2017 has the newest. latest and greatest(?) V-twin motor. That is the reason for the price increase. 110 cu in motor.
The 2016 that I just brought home has the 103 motor. But the velocity red color makes it go faster, IMHO.
Red is not a color its a layer of pigment [Red] that absorbs Sunlight which causes a molecular level of drag causing a negative drag [Slow down] effect though ambient and also non-ambient air...Thats why rockets are never painted red if there looking for speed..
I read this in Rocket Science Weekly..

My bet is greed, HD loves to charge more for less. Look at all the folks who paid a over 1k more for a Street Glide vs an Electraglide Classic. HD did pretty good selling a bike with no tour-pak and no passing lamps for more than the other which had them. Folks lined up and paid more.
Nothing wrong with that, Its not greed' Its called capitalism, If you were selling an item and 4 people were biding on that item would sell it to the lowest bidder.. Unless things have changed the last time i walked into a dealer the salesman didn't hold a gun to my head and say you have to buy it..
