Default 2016 Slip On Adapters?

Getting ready to order some slip on mufflers for my 16 TG. My buddy, who just got a 2017 TG, tells me that when he had his switched out there was a adapter kit he had to buy because on side of the exhaust pipe was longer or different than the other side.

Are the 2016's like that or do I just order the slip on mufflers that I want and they are the same just like I did with my 2013 Ultra? And, is there anything else different about changing out mufflers on a 16 TG?

the 2017 M8 motors gas side pipe is much larger in diameter. IDK why he would use an adapter to pinch it down to the old OEM 1.75 inches, seems that would hurt performance.

I would "assume" your 2016 is 1.75 diameter all the way.

Just mufflers. Only time you should need extensions is if you change to a header pipe. I needed the trike extension for my FullSac header pipe.

Hind sight being 20/20, if I did it aging I would just de-cat the stock head pipe. The trike head pipe is of course longer on one side, no extension would be required.

The TriGlide header pipe is the same one as for all FLH models with 103 twin cam engines. The only difference is a short 8 to 10 inch extension to reach the slip on muffler on the right side. Any slip on for a 1.75 inch exhaust will fit, just make sure the extension is left on the header, or installed on the new slip on before install.

I was at my dealer yesterday to see about slip ons for my '17 and they told me I'd have to buy an adapter kit also. More studying to do.

ETA: I think the parts guy was kinda mixed up.....something is not right here. One thing he did say was that the mufflers both have the same inlet size for the '17 Tri Glide.

I installed the SE Street Cannons slip-ons on my 17 with the 1.75 inlet size and no adapters were needed. Sounds good and woke it up a little.

I was crawling under my 17 today installing the chrome bumper, I didn't see much difference in it compared to my 16. I thought the 17 had moved the Cat, but it looks like it's still in the header pipe under the passenger floorboard, I could be wrong.
Also didn't see and difference in the header right at the muffler, again I could be wrong...

Check out the V&H trike mufflers..they give you extra clearance in the rear and sound great. No adapter unless you change the head pipes. The head pipes are made for touring bikes and the extensions make up for the additional length of the trike.
