Default How Many Flush Their Brakes

As the title says, how many flush their brake system every 2 years? Water makes its way into a brake system over time, this lowered the boiling point. The lower boiling point can lead to poor brake performance and eventual failure. Today was my brake system flush day, this includes the hydraulic clutch on my Hannigan Wing.

I like using a Mityvac to pull the brake fluid through the calipers, I keep on purging until clean fluid arrives.

Nice touch on using the vise grips to hold the drain can upright!

I do mine every 12 months.

On my ABS bike, I purposely engage ABS on the front and rear wheels every time I ride (once per wheel). That's the only time ABS has ever been engaged.

Same here; a sealed bottle of DOT 4 is here in the garage and before she sees first light again in spring I'll bleed and flush the front and rear; the volume of brake fluid these bikes hold is small compared to cars and trucks and it wouldn't take much moisture to compromise performance; sitting for several months over winter, even in my heated garage? Nope; a bleed and flush is too simple to do.

Of all the things I love about motorcycles, I think it's the brakes I love the most

That's for sure, lets see if you get the itch to swap again in a year.

Been riding motorcycles since 1962, Harleys exclusively since 1970, cars since 1961. I have never flushed a break system on anything, and have never had a problem with breaks with the exception of them wearing out, or a hose going bad. Ditto hydraulic clutches.

I also don't change the air in my tires annually, or rotate the hand grips and floorboards.

I haven't been at it that quite that long, but I have never fixed brakes that weren't broke, may be harleys or new stuff are junk.(50 plus vehicles)

Me either. I haven't been given any info that makes me change my mind as of yet so I agree.
