2011 Tri Glide Trunk Latch pulled out
#11
Well my trunk popped open on the expreessway yesterday afternoon. Got home and the lock mechanism is about 1/2" away from the body. Tried several times to secure the trunk with no luck. Called my dealer and he's ordering a complete new unit. They are going to trailer the trike to the shop when the parts come about Wednesday and get er fixed up. Frustrating to say the least with our good weather.

My 2014 did the same thing . There is a retaining clip and plastic sleeve that the lock cylinder slides into and they tend to fail and break . Pretty sure mine was caused by us slamming or shutting the door to hard , used to come open alot going down the road. Until we were educated on the proper way to close and latch it ,lol ! Ebert

Mine is hard to get to latch, but I try to just push it in till it latches instead of slamming it.

Tri Glide Trunk Closing Issues
Hello.
We just discovered that our trunk on our 2015 triglide is airtight and waterproof. That being the case, we deduced that when slamming the trunk to try to close it just builds up air pressure in the trunk compartment and makes trunk closing a very frustrating problem indeed.
However, if one merely pushes the trunk lid up to where the gasket on the trunk lid and the gasket on the trunk itself meet, then push the trunk lid the rest of the way shut, it will indeed shut and latch.
A friend likened the process to the same as a Tupperware container. Simple put most of the cover on the container and then push down on the rest of the cover and release the air inside. This is akin to "burping the cover lid."
I was really frustrated with my trunk lid........, until the above process came to light.
Hopefully this will help more people with their trunk lid issues!!!!!
