Mary and I left the house today on the TG. It was sunny and 61*. We headed 70 miles north to visit some friends we have not seen in awhile.
About halfway there it turned cloudy, then foggy, and by the time we got there it was down to 51*.
Just got back awhile ago, and about halfway back it was back to sunny, and it was 64*.
Great time riding & visiting.
We only saw two other bikes on the road in the entire 140+ miles...both HD Touring models.

Catch Can Installed On 2017 M8 Stock Air Box, Simple And Different
Air Cleaner Catch Can Installed On 2017 M8 Stock Air Box, Simple And Different.
Not all may agree with me here. I was not worried about taking the vapor out of the air box but I wanted to remove any oil condensate carry over into the throttle body. I also did not want to modify my air box at all. I purchased a catch can from DK Custom and installed it like this. I will service the catch can at oil changes to start with. The vapor will still be in the air box with this set up but outside the filter but the oil and condensate should drop out in the catch can in theory. This set up is a test to see how things go without modifying my stock air box.
You can see the oil in the throttle body in the pic below. My 2017 Tri Glide was right at full or a hair more new on a hot oil level oil check. At my first oil change I set the hot check oil level at 4 dots lower than the full mark with a hot oil level check. This has helped or prevented a lot of the carry over on my other Harley's in the past.
Also living in California with the way things are heading with the EPA crap I did not want to modify the stock air box by drilling any holes or making any noticeable changes to it. I am more than fine with the way the way the stock M8 runs and performs on our 2017 Tri Glide trike. It has more power and usable torque by far than our stage 1 2015 103 TC trike did.
See pic's below. It's pretty straight forward what I did.

The forecast had been for freezing rain last night into today did not happen so I did a great 122 mile loop through two counties.
Now the weatherman says that the freezing rain will be tonight. He has been wrong for the past two days with the same forecast and I got in the two great rides I am wondering if I can tomorrow also.
If I ever ever was wrong in my working days I would have been fired. Today's weather forecasters are wrong 51% of the time with their computers and still get their paychecks. In the old days without doppler radar and computers they were 51% right.

I rode yesterday to our chapter planning meeting and it was 27* when I left and 34* when I came home. Loved every minute of it. Now our year is all planned out. I don't think we have one free weekend available.
I think the weathermen in Hawaii are always correct. Don't know why they even have weathermen in Hawaii.

Yesterday we had rain, fog and a new President. Today we had sunshine, blue skies and 47 degrees in NW Illinois. So I headed out. 222 miles later I pulled back into the garage with the Freewheeler.
Had to get a hose out of storage and wash the bike off after it cooled down. In exploring the rural areas I got on a rock road. The frost was going out and the front tire sank in deep. Three miles later I got back on a state road.
Had to flush the entire bike down and the oil cooler was caked about an inch deep from the crap the front tire kicked up. But that is all the part of the adventure of riding.
