SMS texting 2014 TG
New 2014 TG. Attempting to set up SMS texting through IPhone so that I can review as needed. Keep getting an SMS error, tried on IPhone 4 and my father's IPhone 5 - same results. Bluetooth for phone works fine. Both IPhones have IOS 6. Hard to believe IPhone not comparable with Infotainment center. I do have most current HD software. Do I need Apple's IOS 7 for these devices to be comparable?

Take a look.... this is from the HD site:
BOOM!™ BOX PHONE & MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT GUIDE
The majority of mobile devices work with your Boom!™ Box Infotainment System.
Check the list below to see if yours is one we have tested for compatibility.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apple iPhone 5 Sprint iOS (6.1.3) 09/2012
Blackberry BlackBerry 9860 AT&T Blackberry (7.1 Bundle 1997) 11/2011
HTC Droid DNA Verizon Android (4.1.1) 11/2012
LG Enlighten VS700 Verizon Android (2.3.4) 11/2011
Samsung Galaxy S III Sprint Android (4.1.2) 06/2012
I have had the same issues on my 2014 TG (I have an iPhone 4 with AT&T). I can only use my iPhone via Bluetooth... it does not do anything when hooked to USB. I can listen to music via USB from my iPod so I know the USB works. Using Bluetooth I can listen to music... listen to Pandora.... Use the phone make and recieve calls (contacts, phonebook, etc.), but I can not see anything from text (bluetooth or USB)

Press the button for the incoming message to open the
message. A Text-To-Speech (TTS) feature on the system
will read the message. The message will be heard through
the speakers or headsets.
SMS Setup: Auto-Reply Message
The Boom Box will automaticly send a text back telling the person you are riding and will contact them when you stop....

No where does the OP say he wants to text while riding. He is interested why texts cannot be received/archived as they arrive to look at later. If set up properly and both sides are compatible they would drop into an inbox with notification that a text was received. The more important issue is that it appears that an Iphone 5 and HD's infotainment center is not all that compatible, hence the question to those that are more experienced in this area.

Texting on a motorcycle. Are you serious??
Let me repeat what Old Mike said, and add ARE YOU NUTS!!
When you are stopped, take out your phone and look. I've spent countless hours giving people in cages the finger for almost killing me texting a 'very important message' Reading a very important message is as bad.
