I thought about the bed liner, but for now I'm using door edge gaurd on the body between the mufflers, that area gets a beating.

1+ on the fender film. I put it on pre-chip. It does the job but it won't shine like naked paint.

I had the 3M film installed by a 3M installer and it does have a very nice shine. You don't really know it is there.

I would paint the lower portion with FLAT BLACK TRUCK BED LINER.

FLAT BLACK spray can truck bed liner and paint the lower portion.
