Just trying to make a wise purchase. What are the differences from buying a new Harley FLHTCUTG or getting a used one and a conversion kit???
.............this is a good question....if you look at the price for the conversion.....add that with the price of a late model bike....there might not be a lot of $$$ difference......a good thing about buying a already made from the factory trike is that you get a warrantee !!!
I did the math and there wasn't that much difference from converting a relatively new bike or selling it and buying a new HD trike. By the time you figure in the basic kit and add the raked fork kit and reverse kit the cost is right up there with a factory model. In addition to the warranty mentioned by Joe, no conversion will ever have the resale value, and will be much harder to sell, than a factory made HD.
The conversions would have a higher resale and did for a long time until the TG came along which brought the prices down. It is also killing the aftermarket trike kit manufacturers.

Exactly my experience when we checked into converting my wife's SG.
Harley only builds the Ultra Classic Tri Glide and the Street Glide FLHXXX for 2010 and 2011 model years. If you want another model Like Road King, Or Softail Model etc, etc. You have to go with a kit. Now who makes the best kit??.
I believe the TG was designed from frame up to be a trike where as the conversion is not.
Ditto, plus as stated you have the warranty on the bike portion as well as the trike parts, you don't lose your bike warranty as with a conversion. Again when you do the math it is hard to do a conversion and bring it in for what HD sells the completed trike for.
The one down side is the model limitation! I believe HD is missing the boat by not Triking a few more models.
