Default 120 ST report

I just got back from my 2nd long tour with the 15 Freewheeler that I put a 120ST in last fall.

First I used it all winter for my winter riding. Then last month I did a 2K ride of the back roads of N.D. Then I just got back today from a 1.7K ride of the back roads in S.D. In all I have 7,400 miles on the engine and 15K on the bike.

During those rides the bike averaged just at 40mpg. Several fills were from 42 to 45 mpg. The upper end has some clattering as I changed to syn the last change. I am going back to mineral 20-50 as it ran quieter on that.

The bike can slow down to 40 in six gear and pulls hard when the throttle is turned. No lugging just squats the back down and away. I don't do that normally just a test. The acceleration is brutal. The tune is the HD Super Pro tune. It gets better mpg than my 14 Road King with the 103HO.

All in all I am glad I spent the money on it and put on the Sundowner seat.

I have a 5 gallon auxiliary tank that mounts on the luggage rack and has an electric pump with hose to transfer to the gas tank. It is for an upcoming ride to Yellowknife.

I was concerned with the small front tire but at 15K it isn't even down to half tread.

I guess my only question is, why do you need a 5gal reserve? With an easy 200mi range, it doesn't seem like it would be needed.

I'm jealous. Would love to have 120ST or something similar, in our trike.

Would the rocker locker quite it down any? I think I'll try them this winter.

The tank is for my planned ride to Yellowknife. Generally there is sufficient gas locations however they only order when they're almost out and you may have to camp out over night. I do plan some other haul roads rides.

I think the rocker lockers would help but I'm going back to heavier mineral oil first to see if it runs quieter.
