Protection of rear fenders

Protection of rear fenders
The rear fender area of the trike is the massive compared to a normal bike of course. I just cant help think about how to keep it nice looking and protected from all stuff that's going to hit it going down the road?
The fender bras I guess are an option but I can see them rubbing somewhere and something on the trike.
3m Film
Harley Film protection
3m Spray paint proctection
Bed Liner
What is everyone using or am I over thinking this.

What I did to my 2013 (~4,500 miles):
If I remember right, I rode through lots of sand and gravel (not on purpose)
I put a front fender mud flap on it. Had it custom made by a leather guy.
I'd have to get the exact measurement off the ground, but I haven't hit any speed bumps or anything. I can get the measurement if you want it.
Two main things I've noticed is that the oil cooler no longer fills up with crud or rocks and also I've kept a lot of wax on that part of the rear fenderage. That also seemed to help.
So far (knock wood) all cool.
Hope that helps.

I have posted an alternative on the trike talk message board using 3M Paint Defender. I am pleased with the product and its results.

I use the same thing I use on my Lincoln.... nothing. I have over 40,000 miles on my trike, wife has 20,000 on hers. Ride the damn thing! Enjoy it. If you want a trailer queen, or a show bike, then go for it. I've never traded in a car or motorcycle where they deducted for formal paint chips. You are going to cause more scratches to the tops of the fenders getting on and off. You will scrape the sides of the fenders on curbs and posts at gas stations. I know people like to keep their scoots clean, but if you don't ride it you just spend a ton of bucks for a piece of art in your garage.

I put on the Kuryakn rear flaps 'cause they look cool. But other than the bottom edge of the rear fenders they do nothing to protect the bike. I'm gonna look at the Kurykans and see if it can be modified for the front...or just fabricate one from a car flap.
I have the Harley3m film but never got around to putting it on. Gotta do that before Sturgis.
