Default Another Trailer Question

I'm looking for a trailer to haul an Ultra Classic and a Tri-Glide. We're planning on traveling south during the winter several times a year to escape the snow, cold and salt. So far, I've narrowed my choice to an aluminum, enclosed trailer with a 'V' nose for storage and mileage. Tow vehicle is a 2500 Ram diesel. My question is what size trailer?

They won't fit side by side, Sooooo park them nose to tail, measure the distance and add 2 feet. Your trike is almost 4 feet wide so you will need a 6 foot wide trailer. I'd probably option a tandem axel with breaks.

Happy towing

Steve: Your trike must of shrunk as mine is 54" outside fender to outside fender.

I've tried it. You'll be glad you went with a 7'x14' V nose. Push the trike up into the V and load the hog behind. The 7' width will allow for moving around the trike fenders.

He will be able to load it behind as long as it is not a dove tail.

That is exactly what I did. I have the wife's Tri Glide up front in the nose and my Electra Glide behind. You need 18'2" min inside length. I can tell you that combo will not fit in a 14' nose to tail. I ended up with a 16' box with a 3' nose. As I wanted to put mine and a buddies EG behind the wifes trike, I went with a 7'6 wide. That made the nose a little longer as well. It has 19'3 inside nose to tail. Three full length runs of E track gives you all kinds of options for tie downs. I use a quick detach wheel chock for the EG and it has to be removed to get the trike out of the trailer.

Thanks! That helps a lot especially coming from someone who has done it.

You will not have any problems with power and that rig. I have to use my Chevy 1500 with a 5.3 The trailer and bikes come in under the max allowed by the Chevy specs, but I upgraded the hitch and receiver to 10,000 lb units. I much rather have overkill in this area than fall short. Would like a bit more under the hood though. Hills and headwind will be a concern. You will have power to spare.

Oh yea keep in mind if you want nose to tail I would look for something with at least 18'2" inside clear. That is what I used for my absolute min length. My particular trailer turned out to have 19'3" inside. Gives a little more space between the bikes.

Though I would post a pic of my enclosed 7.5 X 16 inside. Just about finished up with the mods. Floor, hold downs, cabinet ect. We can get a trike and two full dressers inside. Trike in front and the Dressers side by side in back. Getting all the E track down and the floor cut to fit took more time that I expected. I am pretty happy with the results though.
