Wife and I get in the mid 30's with both trikes. Every Harley I've owned has been hard to find neutral for the first 5000 miles. Takes time for the gears/synchros to wear in.

You didn't really buy that trike for it's great mileage did ya????

Thank you for the comments on getting "neutral", I will let them know about it when I get service in Wednesday. BTW I think my mileage is very good considering the weight of the vehicle that it is moving around. I appreciate your comments.

Thanks for all the replies folks , I.m always riding two up and I guess considering wind weight and etc maybe the mpg s isn't so bad ! Everyone would like to get more. I'll be doing my 1000 mile service after today and I'll be asking about the neutral hunt also. It is very difficult to get it in neutral and you have to be there to use reverse. Ebert

The more miles you put on the easier it is to find neutral. I could not find it unless the engine was off until had about 1,200. Now at 3,000 it goes in much easier.

Wife and I have owned 12 Harleys since the early 70's, 9 were bought new. In every case, bar hopper to cruiser to trikes they all were very hard to find neutral. After about 2000 miles it got easier.

Thanks Moe and Screwball ! I usually have to put in in 1st and try to light tap the heel shifter to get neutral . Sometimes a couple of tries. Ebert

That's about average. My 2009 got 29 - 31 depending on how it was ridden and load.

26 to 40, depending on speed, wind and wrist. Going over 70 mph is when it really starts dropping.

Overfilled primary, by even a couple of oz., (which is very common by an HD Dealership) will make neutral more difficult to find.
