I took my 2014 Tri-Glide in for it's 1000 mile checkup. It was getting late in the day so I called the dealership and asked if the trike was ready. The service manager went to check and came back on the phone and told me that they were trying to find a bushing for the front motor mount. He guesses that the bolt worked it's self out and the bushing fell out? I have never heard of this problem before, has anyone else? I also did not have any indication that the bolt or bushing was out. I will post more later when they call me to pick the trike up.

 

Upper mount? Not uncommon, Lost one on my 12MY

 

Lost both my bolts and spacers for top motor mount . Have them locktite them in make sure you tell them that or it will happen again, and at each service request a check of motor mounts, they wont do it unless you ask , only gets checked every couple services . Harley should locktite these from the factory but they dont!! Mounting bracket put a dent in my rocker box, when the bolts fell out dealership is gonna fix it under Warranty.

 

That is a fairly common thing to happen.

 

..........I had the same problem with my 09........while on a road trip one of them fell out.....while in Lubbock tx....the dealer there fixed the problem....what had happened was the bolt had worked it's way loose three time prior to the Lubbock visit....in that time the threads in the head were worn out and could not accept a bolt....dealer ere did or performed a "line sert" procedure....and fixed the problem....they we good...and now four years later the problem has not resurfaced....thanx Lubbock h.d.

 

Picked the trike up today from the dealership. Asked the service manager if he could show me where the bolt was he pointed out the bolt, up high in the top front of the motor. Said that I was the second bike that they found this on. I asked him if they put locktite on the new bolt and he couldn't answer my question. I guess I will have to watch if the bolt looks loose myself.

 

If the bolts come loose again, you might look at putting a cushioned link in place of the solid link OEM. There are two bolts on the head in that bracket that come loose. Be sure & use at least red lock-tite. If they still come loose go to green. It takes heating the bolt to take them out with green. So be careful.
I put a stabilizer link from Comp Cams. It fit great, & gives a little movement to the top of the engine. Not much, but enough to take the beating away from the bolts on the head.

 

Just a thought in checking if the bolts are tight.........
If you move the bolt, you need to remove the bolt & put on new loc-tite. Because the loc-tite etches the metal on both sides then forms a bond between the two pieces. If you move the bolt you break that bond & it needs re-done. Also be sure to torque to specs also.

 

when getting your Triglide serviced at anytime request a check on all motor mounts, the service manager should of asked the tech if he locktited the bolts, i dont think that is to much to ask from Harley!
