Default 7000 miles and rear brakes are wore out

Was checking to see if I could adjust the parking brake up as it is not holding any more on my 2014 and was reading that on the older tri glides they recommend disconnecting the parking brake as it keeps the rear shoes tight and tends to wear out the rear shoes and 7000 miles is about normal on the rear brakes , have not run with the parking brake on either , looking for ideas or thoughts on the subject

I have 14K on the original pads, still plenty left. I always adjust the park brake loose as to not tighten up the pads. If the hill is steep, put it in gear.

Have 9,000 miles and the rear brake pads have plenty of material. Did not measure it but they look good. I keep the parking brake adjusted but not tight.

well looked at a new set of pads at the dealer today and found out mine are fine , not bad at all just not much when they are new so going to just leave the parking brake alone and ride

On my 2011 I changed the rear brake pads around 35k miles and they still had around 50% of the meat left.

Be sure to use the front brakes with the rear brakes also. You will stop better & not wear out the pads front or rear as fast.
