BAD BUILDS verses GOOD BUILDS
As you know we all are looking for more so often, that is when it comes to Building or Rebuilding your engine for Horse Power and Torque. Whether we use it or not it’s always nice to know that you have it in your arsenal when you’re in everyday traffic being able to roll on and not down shift to pass or stay in front of traffic. Building a bad motor shows so often early and not late, what I mean is so often we don’t break in the engine correctly and we lose precious horsepower and torque as the rings didn’t seat like one that was broken in correctly. We see so many people put synthetic oil in on a new motor build rather than using normal oil for proper break in etc. with the mind set its good enough when in reality you could have gotten 10 to 15 more lbs. of torque or horsepower. Doesn’t sound like much but it is when you look at 100 lbs. verses 115 lbs. or when someone drops 2000 bucks or more for just 15 more horsepower, now it’s a big deal. Bad builds can come in many ways like fudging on other quality parts to enhance the performance due to lack of funds, experience or by lack of real council. Over the years we have seen so many people drop tons of money into their bikes but always needing more and never really achieving what they set out to do in the first place. We all know it’s having fun but over a process of time it’s all about the performance issues.
Good builds always equate to quality proved parts from chips, tuners, 2 into 1 exhaust for high end low cost performance. Doing homework to spend your hard earned money the first time and be really happy with the outcome is vital at the end of the jobs performance while obtaining quality and reliability. The good builds that we do or see are thought thru or have included more quality parts to complete a good recipe while breaking in the motor correctly until the motor seats in. The longer a person waits and takes the time to build their motor and break it in is usually seen at the Dyno results literally over and over. Now as you build your motor from a base 75 horse to 125 horses remember to think about suspension performance or better braking performance as well. Hope this helps some of you while you may be down this winter and working on your project etc. to maintain safety, reliability, torque and horsepower issues that we are all so often wanting. No bikes ride like a Harley this is just one reason why we ride them.
