James Bond + Ben Hur with a Modern Twist
Hey guys,
I though some of the forum members here would enjoy seeing what we are working on at Top Down Products.
At a recent bike rally, VFW in Morgantown PA, we were approached by a rider of a Harley-Davidson Road Glide. He was envisioning a set of front axle covers that would spin...but more, he wanted them to resemble a wicked Ben Hur, James Freakin' Bond, spinning tire shredder. After a bit of Google searches, we decided to model the design after a medieval double-sided axle.
Utilizing state-of-the-art 3D CAD software and making a few prototypes using a 3D Polyjet Printer, we were able to successfully bring this idea to reality. To test the design, we mounted the 3D Printed prototype onto a V-Rod and took it for a spin. You can watch the video on
.
Once the client approved the final design, we shipped him the a couple different styles, sizes of prototype for him to evaluate. He was completely floored by the design, so much that he asked us to make him matching Floor Boards.
For the Floor Boards we followed the theme of the Spinner Blades with a similar shape and the beveled blade edge. We also incorporated over 50 polished Stainless Steel spikes that are press fitted into the Triple Chrome plated board, giving it a robust boot grip that will hold up to years of wear and tear.
Both designs were made in Billet Aluminum and are now out for Triple Plated Chrome. We are planning to install these at our booth at the Ocean City Bike Week in September.
We enjoyed working on this project and are excited to start another design project...any volunteers???
Thanks for your time,
Dennis Sauro

I agree, but this client wanted extreme and we aim to please. Spinners in general are not for everyone, then add in three pointed blade tips and it's a whole other level!
The cool thing about this design is, we can make the end that spins anything, a disc, radial or spoke/blades, wings or replace the three blade on this design with anything else to match your bike theme.
