Birthday presents to yourself can sometimes be the best ones. It's also better to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission, haha. BTW, I also am looking at getting a V-rod. Currently riding a 1999 Road King Classic. What made you choose a V-rod? Seems like it would just fit my style better. How's the reliability of the V-rods?

Picked it like i picked my ex- wife.... I was drunk and she was pretty. Was looking on chopper exchange while drunk, and thought "damn, that's a nice looking bike" . Opened the ad, and passed out. When i regained consciousness, i saw it still on the screen and it still looked good. Spent the rest of the weekend trying to find a reason not to buy one (reliability, cost of maintenance, insurance costs, etc) and came up with nothing. They are supposed to be reliable, and there are quite a few on 1130cc.com that have ridiculous miles on them with no big issues. So, I called the dealer and got it.
To me it doesn't really ride like a harley. Think naked bike with limited cornering clearance. That being said- it is a blast to ride, pretty quick, and did I mention pretty?
Congrats on the new (to you) V-Rod! I had the same urge, but before I could act on a V-Rod, I saw a very low mileage CBR 1000RR SP, and I couldn't resist ( I had a ST1300 a few years back and loved it!!). Next Harley for me will be a toss-up between a tourer and a V-Rod!
