Default Muscle or Special

Okay, had this itch for a while now. Looking at the V-Rod as my next ride, but, I just don't understand the subtle differences between the two models.
Please can someone help me out.

Same bike, different look. The only real difference other than cosmetic is that you can get mid controls for the Special, but not the Muscle. The exhaust placement on the muscle is in the way.

a big difference is no options, not that the Night Rod has all that many options to begin with, but almost everything that Harley makes as a option for the V-Rods says"Not for VRSCF" not many things made for it. I ride a Muscle, but I wish it was a Night Rod instead.

okay, thanks guys.
I find the bars better placed on the Special. Not so far forward and easier to change should I need to alter the riding position.

Dealer has a 2012 Special up for £8k so test ride is next.

muscle...I like the wires to be hidden around the speedo. I like the balanced look.
