Honestly I can't say I'd be surprised if it were true but this seems to be a recurring rumor every year. I can't believe it's lasted this long as stagnant as HD has let it get. That platform should have been a test bed for other models getting it. Heck, they could have filled the void Buell left with two models of Vrod.
One thing for sure; anything left in an HD showroom after January 1st (more than a couple years in a row) is history with this version of HD.
I think it will end up getting cut down to just one bike in the next 2 to 3 years. I can't seem them chopping it off the block 100% because it would leave a void. I would still like to get my hands on a VRSCR and increase the fuel tank so you can actually ride somewhere. LOL
I read a few posts on the VROD forums. They are talking about it as well. More than one guy thinks that it is being dropped.......BUT, only to be revamped into some sort of big brother to the Street lineup. Which would be cool, as well. But who really knows, other than the MOCO boys.
Most of us remember when the Wideglide, Roadglide, and others over time have been eliminated just to make a return in a year or so with a few modifications. The V-Rod engine will remain even if not in the present frame.

I for one believe you. I still remember the "Birth of the VROD" tv show from way back. I would be pretty surprised if spending that much time and money on development, Harley just abandoned the platform completely. But what do I know.
I think its biggest problems are the traditional Harley customer isn't interested in it, but it's still too much of a cruiser to be of interest to non-traditional Harley buyers.
After all of the research that went into the V Rod engine, I still don`t see HD discontinuing it. I look for it to appear in another motorcycle format, maybe another cruiser version.....
