Default Night Rod Special top speed

Hey,

Rented a Night Rod Special a couple years ago in Vegas. I think it was a 2007 and was stock. Anyone know the approximate top speed of this bike?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

Me and a few friends rented bikes (night rod special, springer, heritage, ultra) on our trip and switched off. One guy said he hit 150 MPH on the stock night rod special but that sounded high to me. It was fast but I remember it topping out in the 130's.

The gearing is the real limiting factor on the top speed, as you can hit the rev limiter in top gear on a stock bike.

Stock everything (for a 28t US model) you'll hit the rev limiter around 142, the earlier models had a 30t sprocket, so they could go up to about 153, same setup. The wide 240mm rear tire will actually expand more at high speed, increasing the final drive ratio a little, so for the DX/AW it would actually be a little higher. I turned off my rev limit and have buried the speedo and hit 10,000 rpm, which would put me around 170 mph... but without a GPS I really can't be certain. But the gearing, and being able to hang on without a fairing, is the limiting factor more than power.

02-04 148mph
05 and newer 142

With mods they can go faster. I know a couple of V-rods that can catch the sport super bikes. They have a lot of mods

My Garmin Nuvi says the 06 Night Rod and the 08 Impala SS have the same top speed: 99mph.
