Default Progressive Rear 444 shock settings?

I just installed a new set of Progressive 444s on my VRSCA 2004. I like the fact that I'm not limited to the 1,2,3,4,5 click settings of the stock v-rod shocks which I have always kept at 5 & have bottomed out on the way to works with laptop bag (20#), T-bag(10#) and me (215#)....not to mention when my 140# bride is on the back.

The new shocks are now "dialed in" for weekend riding. I put a small zip tie on each shaft, dialed the shocks one rotation.... rode in a parking lot over a couple of high speed bumps, noticed the zip ties were pounded into the bumper so I tightended another turn, rode over speed bumps, zip ties still touching bumper, turned 1/2 turn ... .25" above bumpers, turned 1/2 turn and now about .5" above bumper ... road on freeway, in a few more parking lots and shock travel still stopped about .5" from bumper... ride was much better than stock shocks and I may adjust when adding laptop bag for commute or when my bride gets on, but .... is this a good setting? Shock travel appears to be about 1.5 to 1.75"

I did some twisty riding on road and in parking lots. Initially, there was some odd re-bound wash in rear at lighter settings, but that has gone away with the stiffer set up.

If you have Progressives or really know about suspension travel & setup ...Your thoughts?
