Default Help with vrod exhaust removal

Trying to replace the water pump cover on the wife's '03A model. Only way to reach two bolts is to remove the exhaust. I have removed the chrome heat shields, removed the head bolts and removed the bolts holding the muffler section on (underneath) . What do I remove to create the ability to remove the pipes from both sides of the heads. Are they slipped in or mount flush? One flange slipped off the studs easily, the front one will not? I haven't removed the bolt with the carter pin holding the exhaust on at the moment, everything is still attached. Stopped here for advise.

Been a few years since I removed mine and put the turbo on. As I remember I believe you have to take the third volume off the header pipes and then they should slip off between the studs. I don't think it come off as an assembly? hope this helps?

I did this last week, ratchet wrenches and small sockets will be your friend doing this. When you replace it do not tighten anything down until everything is back on including slip ons
