FYI, HD Dyna models went to 1" axles in 2004-05 (39mm tubes)...Different left slider.

So if you have a original sizing to your 2005 Dyna right 39mm chrome slider for a 1"/25mm axle, you need a LEFT slider from:
> 2004-05 Dyna
> Most 2008-'10 XL models (25mm axle axle has same slider size)

If you going to make a 39mm chrome slider for a 3/4" axle work (with 2000-later brake caliper mount) you need a LEFT slider from:
> Most '2000-'07 XL models and '2000-'03 Dyna models.

Hope that helps

Thanks.
I thought they were the same identical 39mm slider from 2000-2005 with 3/4 axle...didn't know they changed axle size to 1 inch in 04.
I do in fact have another right hand chrome 39mm slider and it seems to have the larger size axle hole. I tried to measure the bore diameter and it is just OVER 1 inch.
Did they use any other sizes besides 3/4 and 1 inch, or is the 1 inch slightly larger than that.
Truly appreciate your advice or I would have ended up with an incorrect 3/4 size.

Jim

If you measured over 1" (right-side slider), then it should be approx 1-1/8" and is for 1" or 25mm axles (same slider) because the 3/4" axle has an approx 7/8" hole (1/4" difference).

2000-later 39mm Dyna sliders had only 3/4" or 1" axle sliders:
2000-03 = 3/4" ......... 2004-2005 = 1" (BTW, Dynas went to 49mm tubes in 2006 and also to 25mm bearings in 2008)

2000-later Sportster sliders had only 3/4" or 25mm axle sliders:
2000-07 = 3/4" ......... 2008-later = 25mm

1" and 25mm axles use the same approx 1-1/8" hole on the right-side slider.

You are looking for a Left-side slider to match your (have-in-hand) 1"/25mm axle right-side. That change in left-side hole size isn't as dramatic so it's harder to notice at a glance. Only approx .080 (5/64") difference (for common ref: .0625=1/16").

So be careful on the left-side slider selection. Have the potential seller measure the hole size and/or give an accurate application. You want a 3/4" hole (1"/25mm axle) because the 3/4" axle has (smaller) approx .670 hole size (ref: .687=11/16", .672=43/64")

You want a Chrome version of #46075-04 Left-Side Slider from/for 2004-05 Dyna or Most 2008-'10 XL models (Sportster - SAME Part#, remember 25mm axle axle has same slider size)

Purchased what I believe are the correct 2005 Dyna chrome sliders and the swap over went ok.
My only lingering concern is that the axle shaft initially slid in as normal to the point where the threads were near protruding the left side slider, then became extremely tight to continue.
I tried a second time and checked alignment and eventually had to drive the shaft in the remaining 1.5 inches. It's all together now and wheel centered and true, however the force imparted to do so left me uncomfortable.
Any ideas?
Thx
Jim

I suspect the chrome has reduced the I.D. of those bores, but i don't like hearing the term "driving". Maybe in hindsight, you might have tried the axle in each loose slider before installing on tubes.

I'll pull it apart again and remove the axle and wheel and re attempt axle fit thru the sliders without the wheel. I'll compare the original sliders to see where the hang up is. If in fact ID due re chrome, I may have to polish bores?
Evidently these sliders I bought were Harley new chrome parts and not rechromed.,
I'll keep u posted and thanks for your help.
Jim
