Default OK ... I need some HELP (FLSTSB rear wheel)

A couple of months ago the left rear wheel bearing disintegrated.

I pulled the wheel and took it to my local HD shop (Biloxi, MS) and they replaced both bearings. $21.11 for each bearing for a total of $42.22 and 1/2 labor $50.00 for a total with taxes of $102.14 on 8/12/14.

The very next day tore up my knee at work and had to have surgery on it on 8/25/14. For the first time since I hurt my knee, last weekend (10/11/14) I decided the knee was good enough to jump on for a ride. While riding I thought I felt a wobble but it was just every now and then. I was about half way to the next closest HD shop (Slidell, LA) so decided to stop in and let them check it out as I was closer to them then turning around and heading to the Biloxi store.

They (the Slidell HD shop) said when the bearing were bad again because a spacer was left out on the left side of the hub. They stated the spacer should have went in before the bearing on that side was pressed in. They also stated the wheel was out of balance. They replace the bearings again, $21.11 each for a total of $42.22. Added the missing spacer for $21.22. Balanced the wheel for $2.72 and charged 2 hours of labor for $178.00 for a grand total of $265.53 after taxes.

I asked weren't the bearing under some type of warranty since they were only 2 months old. I was told that since they didn't do the work they couldn't look it up but yes they had a one year warranty.

With the way my work is today (10/17/14) was the first day I was able to stop by the local HD shop (Biloxi, MS) and inquire about the missing spacer and the replacement of the new bearings. They (Biloxi HD shop) stated there was no spacer called for in the wheel hub and they need the old bearings before they could do anything about the replacement cost?

So, who's ****ing lying to me?
Is the spacer called for?
If it is, would it cause the bearing to go bad again?

Hard to believe I get this type of runaround from two different HD dealerships. If it was my Chevy Silverado I wouldn't be having this type of BULLSHIT.

I now have $367.67 in TWO sets of bearings and a spacer that I don't know even belongs in the wheel hub and neither HD shop says they can do anything about it.

It's unfortunate that you involved two dealers with this problem as I cannot see a way out for you. If your bike is riding fine now, the second dealer seems to have done the job right, while there was something not right with what the first dealer did. The spacer debate isn't relevant as the first dealer cannot check what they may have done wrong now.
