Default 08 SG 5.0 rim

Newbie here ,I have an 08 SG and have been doing a lot of reading on this forum and seen a lot of nice work and innovation , Great site but I am still a little confused .I want to put the newer enforcer wheels on ,now I know the front is straight forward but will the 16x5.0 work on the back with the stock swing arm and just the fender mod. Also is there a benefit of using 18 inch on the back instead of the 16 inch
Thanks in advance for any replies

I know this subject has been beat to death but I just wanted to confirm some things before I get started
Some guys have used 16x5 but I want to use stock Harley wheels and keep the abs I was thinking of doing the swing arm mode but am worried about the wobble of the swing arm by increasing the width on the older frame
Or would it be better to go with an 18 inch rear rim
I just want to make sure I get the combination right, don't want to spend the winter doing mods then miss riding time in the spring because its not right

The later wheel will not fit your bike, for several reasons. The 180 tyre is actually wider than your fender, so obviously won't go, also the hub is wider than your swingarm. There is a thread on HDF where a member cut and welded his swingarm to accept the wider wheel, he also details the other work he did to make everything work, such as getting in a wider fender. However he has good skills and workshop facilities. I don't know of any custom kits, but it would be worth looking.

Thanks gr I did read the swing arm reconstruction post. I could probably handle that mod if I set my mind to it, just a little worried about the out come. Will the wider swing arm create other problems on the 08 SG like wobble and if I do construct the swing arm to fit the wider rim and hub assembly will it centre up with the belt aligned. I know this sounds like stuff I should know if I plan on doing the mod but I don't have the parts yet to measure up and being a newbie to the site I don't have access to the pics yet . I also want to use the new enforcer wheels but haven't seen any posts were some one has modified there bike to fit these

That's the only thread I know of which addresses fitting such a wide wheel to an older bike. I have a 4.5" rim and 160 tyre in my own old Glide, which was fun enough! I don't have the fabrication skills or equipment of that other member. I also have an '08 fender in my bike, but even that wasn't a straight fit. The older frame would probably take a fender about half an inch wider, but still not wide enough for a 180/200 tyre.

I suggest you post any queries in that other post, which will catch the attention of the other members, including the OP.

Read this post and I mean read it start to finish and then find the other one he has where he finished with and 09fender. I am doing the same mod this winter with and 07 SG. Really good information and no swing arm mod.
