Default replaceing an MT 90 on a '01 FXST

Can I replace the stock MT 90 16 with a MU 90 16? Would this give me a slightly wider tire?

Your MT is the same as 130/90, while an MU is 140/85. They have a similar rolling diameter, but the MU is obviously a little wider. You may find you have to trim the inside of your belt guard to get clearance, but otherwise should be fine.
