Default Flat tires

I have been told bike tires can't be repaired like car tires. Is that correct?

Yes you are correct.

We would never recommended repairing a motorcycle tire especially the front.
I've heard of people using patches on the rear, but in my opinion I would spend the extra money on some new tires just to be safe.

You can order some through us or another company, but we definitely recommend replacing the tire in that situation,

Hope this helped!

I was going to make a similar thread. I only have 11,500 on my rear tire. I'll put 40lbs of air into it. Ride a bit. And a week later, I'm down to 25lbs.

I'm thinking, just bite the damn bullet and get a new rear tire. The front, is as solid as ever.

No! A bike tyre, like a car tyre, can be repaired if the puncture is in the main part of the tread. There are various puncture kits available, for roadside use, to get us home. A permanent repair is best done at a suitable tyre depot, preferably vulcanised (ie applied heat, to complete the repair).

If you are told it cannot be repaired, then ask why! I would add that a worn tyre is much more susceptible to puncture than a newish one, so do check tread depth if you have a puncture. The rear is also more likely to puncture, as the front flicks up a nail or screw, which the rear promptly stamps on!

What is the source of the leak? With 11.k on the tire it is more than half worn, probably closer to 70% worn. Find the cause of the leak and then address the issue. It could be something as minor as a loose schrader valve, or a leaky tube if you have a spoke wheel...

As far as repair goes, safety becomes and issue and most shops (including mine) will not repair/patch/plug tires from a liability standpoint. Call your tire manufacturer and ask if they approve repairing your tire. When you only have 2 wheels on the ground safety is the biggest concern.
