Thumbs down How in the HE-- can you clean 28 spoke factory 2009 rims after some pitting.

Just bought a 2010 Ultra that the previous owner didn't clean the back rim for a least a long time. Now it looks pitted and filthy. Tried a small buffer with polishing compound, but didn't do much. I've tried several other cleaners but no go. Any ideas?

Get a new (used) take-off wheel.

Really, look at it from a different perspective...cleaning vs. replacement. Unless you have way more time than money (only a little money). Replace the Wheel with a clean slate. That particular wheel is very inexpensive as a take-off because of their relative undesirability as a replacement wheel.

This fall you can take it off and start the process .... cleaning, sanding starting with 400 grit to 600 grit to 800 grit to 1000 grit to polishing compound to taping and masking ... respray the black following with a clear coat to help deter the further deterioration and pitting ... I need a beer and my hands are sore just thinking about your upcoming chore.

I got tired just reading about it

You should be able to buy a "nice" rear wheel for $25-50. I've bought them as low as $10. If you're close or going to be close to needing a rear tire, look for a 2012-2013 (for tire date code purposes and different style starting in 2014) rear wheel with low mieage tire and just do a swap out. You should be able to easily buy a wheel/tire combo for $75-125 at most (I know i can)

coke and baking soda paste applied with tooth brush on rust.
Marvel mystery oil on oxidized area applied with cotton cloth.
Wipe down entire area for finish with clean cloth. Works fast.

Lol...I hear ya. I don't know how to remove actual pits. I'm sure somebody here knows how.

Thanks for the complement. I got over 40 k on her now. It's been good to me.
