Default Metzler 888

Was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the 888. My Harley's rear 888 tire, in between the treads are pulling apart. It is kept in the garage when not in use. And the tire has only 7000 miles on it. I will taking it off in a couple of days, and will post some pictures of it. Have contacted Metzler about this but haven't received a reply yet. Thanks

Skullman can you post some pictures?! it appears I'm having the same issue with a brand new tire (less than 1000 miles).

Half a dozen people on the forums have had the same issues with tread separation on the Metzler 888. They are now made in Brazil.

I had an 888 on my rear and only got 5k miles out of it. May be I did not check air pressure enough. I went with a commander II see how that goes.

I'm just about to change the first ME888 rear tire I've run on Reaper. It has over 18,500 miles on it. The tread is gone down the middle, but there is no separation or other odd wearing. Just plain worn out form all the miles. Very satisfied with it, and will be mounting another ME888 tomorrow.

The key to getting good mileage from Metz's is tire pressure. The HD factory recommended pressures are too low. As per Metzeler's recommendations, I run 38-40 psi up front and 45-47 psi in the rear (I have the reinforced rear tire, rated to 50psi max).

Cheers!
