Default Wheel bearings and tool for replacement recommendations...

Greetings,

Had made the very stupid mistake of test riding a 2017 Road King, which I thoroughly fell in love with. I had my bike with me at the dealer for the test ride and had a fleeting moment of trading in my bike for the RK. While doing an appraisal inspection, the tech mentioned the rear wheel bearing on the right side was starting to go.

So............

Any recommendations on replacement bearings and tool for the job? Also, I have about 13k miles on my bike. Would an aftermarket bearing last longer. Ball park mileage on how long an aftermarket bearing would last?

Edited to add: No ABS on this bike.

Well, if you don't get the Road King or have to repair the FLD before swapping...

Cheap Tool: Pit Posse VT102
https://www.amazon.com/Pit-Posse-Dav.../dp/B005SUX9MI

Bearing: Industry Standard #6205-2RS (or manufacturer's equivalent to that #)
Here's a Nachi (Japan) for reference, but other quality bearing manufacturers available
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=new

Harley has their new "B" version out (visually different seal) #9276B...I wonder if it's any good

BTW...Install 1st bearing on the disk brake side (possibly contrary to Pit Posse's incorrect instructions)...
Right-Rear / Left-Front on your FLD

this is correct here . pit posse tool works just fine. bearings are junk and before you install pop the seals off and pack them with some good grease.

just take a little pick or small screw driver and gently pop it them out. they will snap right back in, just don't bend them.

I use a razor blade to pry them up a bit, piece of cake!
