Default DYNA 08(25mm) & up rear mag swap to 07(1") in need of help

Hi Guys, I bought a rear wheel advertised as being taken off a 06 fxd on flebay to install on my 07 FXDB so I jumped on. turns out the seller was wrong and its a newer wheel with the shallower bearing cup so the 1" bearings sit proud and wont allow for proper wheel alignment.

I searched here with out much I would think this is a pretty common issue people have run in to, any help would be great karma. Thanks,

Two solutions:

1. Get 1" ID x 15mm wide bearings (it's the same width as the 25mm bearing) and still use the 08-later spacer sleeve.
The Overall bearings/sleeve width will be slightly (.020-.035") narrower and positioned differently than your 06 but most people wouldn't even notice

OR

2. Use those 21mm wide bearings "proud" (with 08-later spacer sleeve) and cut your original wheel spacers down (or make new ones)

Thanks! I came across an old post from Percyco and he had success doing option #1. with mags to spokes so I'm thinking it should be basically the same. I've been browsing for some 1"x52mmx15mm bearings, Percyco's part number for the bearing is napa# 6205-VSP25 that he provided me and said he has had no issues. I've just have been hesitent since all I'm finding haven't been actual wheel bearings and I don't know much about bearings but i sure as XXXX don't want one to blow out while blasting down the highway.

I will need to by inner spacers for a 08up/15mm. are the 07 outer L&R spacers the same size as the 08up's? part numbers are different but I'm not sure if its just because of the different diameter?

In this particular application using 1" x 15mm bearings, you only want to use the 08-later spacer sleeve, not the wheel spacers. Re-use your 07 wheel spacers. They are close. The Right-side 08-later spacer is quite different (.470 vs.737") because it uses a different caliper bracket.

Re: Wheel bearings...the 08-later harleys have been running the same 6205-2RS bearing (although harley uses a different #)

All that being said and you'll really be fine going with the thinner bearings...but because it's no big deal for me to make spacers, I would probably run the 21mm wide bearings proud and make new spacers.

I just saw your next post...do you have a link to those SKFs?

SKF.phphttps://www.123bearing.com/bearing-6205-2RS-1-2-SKF.php

Not cheap, but those are the only ones I have found that are 25.4mm (1").

I think their 1". I think the 6205-2RS1 signifies that. There are other vendors that you might be more comfortable with or use the ones a listed above
