Default Confused . I need an axle please help

Hi guys.
I bought a used flstF front end to put on my bike.
I was told it was 84-99 .
I ordered an axle for a flst but it doesn't fit into the hole so I can screw the nut on. It's not huge like it's clearly the wrong axle but it should slide right in correct?

Iam confused.
I have the front end on my bike but I do not know what to do able an axle.

Can anyone she'd some light on this for me.

Pics in this situation would help a ton. IF your front end is from an EVO FL Softy, you will need a 3/4" diameter axle, what size do you have? What years are the axle you purchased supposed to fit? 84-99 is different than 00-06. Could the package be correct as far as the label goes and the product inside is wrong (I see this often at the shop)?

The front end is from a 91 fatboy I belive that had an evo.
I can take some pictures later.
it's a chromed axle it's like the chrome coating added just enough where it doesn't slide through the bolt side of the forks. It is 3/4 axle cause it fits the wheel.

Get some emery cloth and sand down the axle until it fits, grease it up and install it.

Ues Photobucket or another online picture service and post up a couple pictures before you get busy , we'll guide you the right way but it really helps to see what you have going on.

Just out of curiosity will the axle slip in from the outside ? Some times the leg develops a slight lip where the spacer has crushed down. Is so you can scrap it out or use a small half round file to clean it up. Looks like the correct axle for that front end.
