Default Cleaning spokes?

My spokes are looking good pretty crusty, what is the easiest way to clean them?

Music, beer, wax, and a couple of shoe strings. Should take about an hour. If they are really cruddy, start with 0000 steel wool, then the above.

No, for the whole job. lol Although it may take a little longer depending on how badly your spokes have become.

BTW, if your car windshield gets those hard to clean bug remains on it in the summer where it gets baked on. You can use the 0000 steel wool gently to get them off. GENTLY. (not a bike windshield)

I know that sounds scary but the trick is to use the 0000 steel wool.
I use it on my exhaust to get rid of the little flecks of asphalt that stick
to it in the summer. NO, I don't have any scratches on the chrome.

Spokes are a pain to keep up.

Best to get polished stainless steel spokes and ride, ride, ride!

I guess the "easiest" way to clean them would be to have Maria the house cleaner do them...

SS is definitely the way to go with wire spoke wheels. I prefer mat SS over polished as they hide dirt better. I used one of these.

as it is a real soft bristled brush and a good car wash/wax soap.. Wash, rinse, blow dry and wipe rim / remaining water on spokes with lint free wipe.

Has anyone used the product CLR? It's the calcium, lime and rust cleaner.
I'm going to give it a try.

Keep it off polished aluminum surfaces.. I would stay away from anodized aluminum surfaces also..

I use a bottle washer with a white sock over it . Spray the spokes with ice spray wax after washing them with any old sock on the bottle washer. Then spray the white sock with wax and have at it, you can get reel aggressive with the wand and you will see the grime on the white sock. If they are really cruddy, use Meguirs Liquid Cleaner wax. It is a very mild cleaner and won't harm the finish. The wax does a lot to keep them clean longer. I can do my rims in 15 minutes this way, they sparkle.
