Help please with 21" tire on new Street Glide
My dealer suggests that a 120x21" wheel combo will rub inside the stock front fender on a new Street Glide.. He says he has 3 with problems now, and that the techs won't even road test the bikes due to teh rubbing. True? Is there a way to space the front fender? I love the looks of the stock front fender and want a 21. Thanks

I had to modify my fender. Ive read here that many of other members also have to modify the fender. Someone here posted how to do the mod to the fender. You have to enlarge the rear mounting hole and raise the back of the fender. Bottom line is a 1/4 spacer taped to the tire has to clear the inside of the fender as the tire is rotated.
Pretty sure the 21" is almost 1.25 inches larger than stock. So a a quick test is tape a 5/8 to 3/4 inch spacer to the center of the stock tire and see if it hits the fender as you spin the tire slow..
When I bought my wheel from hogpro they told me about the possible issue and how to check it. I was actually already aware of the issue from hanging on this awesome forum.

It is recommended that the rear fender mount holes be modified to make sure your tire doesnt rub. You can drill out or elongate the hole so that the fender can sit "taller" on the bracket. If you are going with the 21in front wheel, I would highly recommend the Metzeler tire. These do not tend to grow as much as the Avons and most people running this set up have no issues.
