Default Air leak around base of valve stem

Hi,

I found some info on this by searching but wanted a more definitive answer if it exists.

Front wheel is a laced factory rim. Just had front tire replaced (tire, rim strip, and tube).

Rode bike home (3 miles). Next morning front is flat.

Re-inflated and soaped tire. Air bubble are coming from the base of the valve. No air around spokes, bead, or top of valve.

I'm thinking that the leak is at the base of the valve where it connects to the rubber of the tube. If it was a hole somewhere else in the tube, air would be leaking around most of the spoke nipples. It this correct?

Thanks!

Not nessesarily. The rubber band(rim strip) that goes around the wheel that protects the tube might be sealing all of the spoke nipples.

Thanks for the reply. Finally got into the dealer. You were right. Bad tube leaking from a bunch of holes but air only exiting around the base of the valve.
